(Jul., 1900), p. 65. THE SOUTHAMPTON INSURRECTION. By William Sidney Drewry, Ph.D., M.A. (University of Virginia), Honorary Scholar in History Johns Hopkins University, Washington. The Neale Company, 431 Eleventh Street. Mr. Drewry has succeeded in this work in giving a very graphic account of Virginia in the days of slavery. One of the most typical counties of the old regime was Southampton, which became the scene of Nat Turner's insurrection. There is a great deal of valuable information in the book.
