(Oct., 1897), pp. 120-122. APPENDIX N. THE GOODWINS OF CARROLL COUNTY, MARYLAND William Goodwin was married, and resided in Carroll county, Maryland, in 1784. Children: i. William, born 1784; married Providence Buckingham; ii. a daughter, married John Gorsuch. William Goodwin (William), born 1784, near Westminster, Page 121. Carroll county, Md., was married to Providence Buckingham. By occupation he was a farmer. They resided on Deer Creek road, two miles east of Westminster. William Goodwin was a soldier in the war of 1812. He was taken ill while in the service, was send home, and died in the fall of 1814. He was buried on the John Gorsuch farm, near Frizzellburg, Gorsuch being his brother-in-law. After William's death, his widow and children removed to West Virginia, near the Ohio River. She died in Hamilton county, Ohio. Children: i. Margaret, married Thomas Fisher;* ii. Nicodemus, born February 3, 1808; married, first, Harriet Linton; second, Martha McRoberts; iii. Perry Greene Harrison, born 1814; married Rosanna Harris; iv. Mary, married John McBride*. Nicodemus Goodwin (William, William), born February 3, 1808, near Westminster, Md., was married, first, 1829 at Wilmington, Ohio, to Harriet Linton, who was born about 1810, in Wilminton, a daughter of William and Hannah (Buckman) Linton. She died in 1844, in Cincinnati. He married, second, Martha McRoberts, who died in Olney, Illinois, in 1889. By occupation he was a mechanic and farmer, in politics a Republican, and in religion a Universalist. He resides (1897) in Olney, Ills. Children by firs wife: i. William Linton, born April 18, 1830; married Mahala South; ii. Thomas Linton, born 1832; married Kate -----; iii. Mary Ann, born 1834; married James Gunion; iv. Harriet L., born 1835; married John Parker; v. Amanda M., born 1836; married George Philhower; vi. Louisa M., born 1837; married Thomas Young; vii. Merrill P. (Charles Murray), born 1840; died; viii. Albert L., born 1844. Children by second wife: ix. Belle, x. Clara; xi. Ada; xii. Byron; xiii. General. William Linton Goodwin (Nicodemus, William, William) was born April 13, 1830, in Zanesville, Ohio; was married Janaury 25, 1857, at Cassville, Ga., by Dr. Roberts to Mahala South, who was born May 11, 1840, in Lawrence District, S.C., a daughter of Zachariah and Mary (Moore) South. He has retired from business. In politics a Republican, and in religion a Methodist. He resided in Ohio until 1852, when he went to Alabama, then to Georgia, where he has since made his home in Cartersville. He has held twenty-four different commissions as government official. Perry Greene Harrison Goodwin (William, William) was born in 1814 in Baltimore county, Md.; was married at Montgomery, Hamilton county, Ohio, to Rosanna Harris, who was born in 1820, in Ohio, a daughter of Jonathan and Sarah (Cowhorn) Harris. By occupation he was a farmer, in politics a Democrat, and in religion a Methodist. They resided in Montgomery, Ohio, and (1897) Russelville, Ky. Children: i. Thomas H.L., born 1840; ii.
