Blackwell WEBER CITY -- David Brian Blackwell, 30, entered into rest Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002. Born in Sullivan County, Aug. 26, 1972, he was a graduate of Gate City High School and a carpenter by trade. David was an avid fisherman since the age of 2, an outdoor enthusiast with a sincere love of nature and a friend to animals. He had a contagious smile and a gentle nature. He lived his life with a desire to do things that would make this world a better place for us all. David's grandfathers, Horace Blackwell and Scott Boatright preceded him in death. Surviving are his father, Sam "Sandy" Blackwell and Brenda of Weber City; his mother, Sue Ella Boatright-Wells and Tim "Beech" Wells of Hiltons, Va.; brother, Samuel Blackwell of Portsmouth, N.H., and James and sister-in-law Ruth Blackwell of Knoxville; paternal grandmother, Edith Blackwell of Johnson City; maternal grandmother, Janie Boatright of Kingsport; a niece, Chelsea Theriault of Hiltons; four uncles, Michael and Doug Blackwell and Scott and Bill Boatright; one aunt, Lennie Blackwell Story; and a number of loving cousins. The family will be receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Will Shewey officiating. Music will be provided by Oscar Harris, Dale Jett and Bruce Nickols. Angela Boatright Kenny will be the soloist. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at 11 a.m. in Blackwell Family and (Fincastle) Cemetery in Dungannon, Va. John Kilgore, Michael Pyne, Jason Blackwell, Gabe Story, Jake Story, Michael Pauley, David Pauley and West Adams will serve as pallbearers. Bobby Click, Paul McKinney, Terry Olinger, Ben Irwin, Dale Jett, Oscar Harris, Bruce Nickols, Stan Rogers, Dave Mason and Gary Story will serve as honorary pallbearers.
