He was a native of Scott County, an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Holston Defense as a foreman. He was a member of Holston View Methodist Church. He was preceded by his wife, Katherine Jane Poff Peters; parents, Charles Wesley and Ellen M. Gillenwater Peters; and sister, Mildred Peters Catron. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Toni Peters, Abingdon, and Conor Eugene and Millie Peters, Kingsport; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Nina M. Quillen, Weber City, Alma Martin and husband Eddie, Kingsport and Mary Ann Poling and husband Gary, Beckley, W.Va.; brothers, Charles W. Peters Jr., Weber City, Winston E. Peters and wife Ruby, Weber City and Marion J. Peters, Weber City. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Scott County Funeral Home and any time at 139 Church St., Weber City. Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wrightley Salling and Rev. Ken Pierce officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Holston View Cemetery. Grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City.
