Huddle. DOROTHY HOTTEL, seventh child of GEORGE HOTTEL, b. near Mt. Olive, Va., about 1755; d. Oct. 6, 1802; m. JACOB FUNKHOUSER, b. west of Strasburg, Va., in 1750; d. Nov. 27, 1801, both were entombed in the FUNKHOUSER CEMETERY on the farm upon which they settled in 1775 on Mill Creek, one and one-half miles above the present site of Mt. Jackson, Va. Here they owned a large acreage of choice land and engaged in farming as their principal vocation. In 1782, Dorothy received as a legacy from her father 404 acres of land lying in Hampshire Co.,Va., now W. Va. There were stirring times during the early years of their marriage.
