Funkhouser Cemetery Location: 3 miles north of New Market, Virginia on Route #11 Shenandoah County Located near Rude’s Hill on Route #11, it is enclosed with an iron fence and gate John Keyes died Jan. 10, 1895 aged 74 yrs. 11 mos. & 20 days “Gone, but not forgotten, May his soul rest in peace” Sarah wife of Daniel Shafer born Jan. 17, 1810 died Aug. 17, 1885 Daniel Shaffer born Sept. 20, 1809 died Oct. 16, 1882 Francis M. son of J.P. & B.C. Shaffer born Mar. 29, 1882 died Feb. 28, 1883 Sarah Frances Moury wife of Riley Moury died Apr. 7, 1896 aged 36 yrs. 6 mos. 19 days “No rude attacks of raging foes, No cares to break the long repose, No midnight shadow, no clouded sun; But Sacred, light, eternal noon” Colonel Neff and other members of his family, are buried in this cemetery according to Dr. J.W. Wayland’s History Page 460, but there are no stones to the graves.
