Funkhouser Cemetery Location: 7.5 miles west of Mount Jackson, Virginia, on back road next to Mill Creek. Shenandoah County It is surrounded by a stone wall and iron gate. It is kept in good condition. Here lays, Aeness August ___1, ____ (rest unreadable) Asleep in Jesus Erastumus Rinker died 58 years, 4 months and 6 days “For by Grace are ye saved through, and that not of your- selves, it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8.” Elizabeth Sarah wife of Erastmus F. Rinker and daughter of George and Anne Moore born, May 39, 1829 died, February 10, 1871 “Here what the voice of Heav’n proclaim For all the pious dead Sweet is the Savior of their name And soft their sleeping bed They die in Jesus and are blessed; How kind their slumbers are. From sufferings, and from sins released, And freed from every snare/ Far from this world of toil and strife They’re present with their Lord; The labors of their mortal life End in a large reward” Alice Imogene daughter of E.F. and S.A. Saint Matthew 25:34.” Grave not marked, where the bones of John Jones which had been excavated when Mr. Minnick built his scales on Mill Creek.
