LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Soxman cemetery:

Cemetery Location:  On the Sine farm, 2.5 miles southwest of Maurertown, 
                    Virginia
                    Shenandoah County




This small cemetery was a private burying place for the families living at the 
Sine farm.  It is located a short distance from the house on an elevation in a 
large field.  It is unenclosed, full of briars, and the field is plowed right up 
to the graves.

Some of the tombstones are in good condition, while others have fallen, and some 
graves have only a sunken limestone marker.

The following inscriptions were found in the Soxman Cemetery:


In Memory of Elizabeth Soxman
Was born March 1786 
and died February 17th, 1856
Aged 69 years & 11 months


In Memory of Adam Soxman
Born Sept. 10, 1782
Died April 30th 1855
Aged 72 years 7 months & 20 days


In Memory of Elizabeth Good
Born June 26th 1792
and died February 4th 1855
Aged 62 years, 7 months & 8 days
