Abraham Buford and that he received a wound at Guilford Courthouse in the year 1781 and that he is an Inhabitant of this County and is 46 years of age--Ordered that Doctor George Halters? examine his wounds and make a report thereof to his Excellency and Council. Signed: (Teste) John Williams I am of opinion that the within Martin Griffin is inable (unable) by his wound received in his right arm by a musskett ball near his elbow and another one on the same arm about his reist (wrist?) who? is _____ and bent downward by another shot. Certified under my hand this 28th day of September 1786. Signed: George Helley? Please to pay within named pension unto Col. Abram Bird for my use. Witness my hand this 29th Day of September 1786. Signed: (his mark) Martin Giffin Shenandoah County to wit: On the above date the above named Martin Giffin gives sign acknowledgement before me Alexander Hite a Justice of the Peace for the said County of Shenandoah. Testified under my hand the above date. Signed: Alexander Hite I do, with the advice of council, hereby certify that Martin Giffin of 46 years of age , late a soldier in the 12th Virginia Regiment, appears to have been disabled in such a manner while in the service of The United States as to entitle him to the sum of 15 pounds yearly; which allowance accordingly made him, to commence on the first day of January 1786. Given under my hand as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond, this 5th day of January 1787. T. Meriwether Signed: Edm.
