(Front) Northern Neck of Virginia Know all Men By these Presents that We John Snapp and do owe & stand justly in debted into The Right Honorable Thomas Lord Fairfax Proprietor of the Northern Neck of Virginia the fully just sum of One Thousand Pounds lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid unto him the said Thomas Lord Fairfax his Executors of Administrators to which Payment to be well & truly made we bind ourselves & each of us our & each of our Heirs Executors & Administrators jointly & severally by these Presents In Witness whereof we have hereunto set Our Hands & Seals Dated this twenty first Day of May One thousand seven hundred & seventy seven The Condition of the above Obligation is such that Where as Thomas Bryan Martin Esq. of the County of Frederick being fully authorized & empowered by thersaid Thomas Lord Fairfax to ask demand sue for recover & receive all & every the Rents Quitrents & all other Rights & Dues ifsuing growing & arising by from & out of thersaid Northern Neck And whereas he the said Thomas Bryan Martin hath constituted de--- & appointed the above bound John Snapp to collect & receive all Debts Dues & Demands that are due & owing unto the said Thomas Lord Fairfax from all and every the Tenants & Landholders within the County of Dunmore It therefore thersaid John Snapp shall by himself or Deputies duly qualified with all possible Dispatch ask demand & receive of all & every the Tenants & Landholders aforesaid their several Debts Dues Quitrents Fines & Forfeitures that were due & owing to the said Lord Fairfax on the Feast Day of St Michael the Archangel last past being in the Year of Our Lord God One thousand seven hundred & seventy six in good & lawful Money of Great Britain at the Rate of Two Shillings for every hundred Acres of Land & so proportionally for a greater or lesser quantity. And where such lawful Money (Back) Money of Great Britain or Bills of Exchange cannot be had them to receive the same in Current Money of Virginia at & after the Rate of Twenty five per Centum advance on such Current Money and where such Money cannot be had as aforesaid then to receive good Inspected Tobacco at & after the Rate of Thirty two Pounds of Tobacco for every hundred Acres & so proportionally as aforesaid Furthermore If the said John Snapp shall well & truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Lord Fairfax his Attorney or Attornies Agent or Agents what Money Bills of Exchange & tobacco he & his Deputies shall receive on or before the Twenty ninth Day of September next insuing & likewise return a true compleat & exact Rental then the above Obligation to be void or else to remain & be in full Force & Virtue.
