These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. http://www.usgwarchives.net ================================================================== In the Name of God amen I John Calfee of the County of Shanando & State of Virginia being week in Body but in perfect mind & memory thanks be to God therefore Calling to mind the mortality of my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die Do make & Ordain this my last will and Testament that that [sic] is to say Principally & first of all I Give and recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it & my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent & Christian Burial at the Desscresion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the General Reserrection I shall receive the same Again by the Mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate where with it has Pleased God to bless me with in this life I Give Desmis & dispose of the same in the following manner & form Item that is to say I Give & bequeath unto my beloved wife her Choise of my horse Creatures & her side saddle & a full third part of the rest of my personal Estat & the half of my Land during her Life the Land to be divided & she to have her choice & as to the other half of my Land, I give & Bequeath unto my son Charles & after Deseas him to have her part & my will & desire is that my son Charles he shall have all the rest of my personal Estate except my wifs thirds but my desire is that my Lawfull debts that shall be owing at my Deseas shall be discharged & paid before anny Division as made & my will & Desire is that my son Charles shall pay unto my two daughters Bettey & Sarah five pounds each as their part of my Estate he having already satisfied my three sons William James & Benjamen as to their parts & for my other two Sons Henry & John I have given them their part to their full Satisfaction & I Do likewise Constitute & Ordain my well beloved wife & my son Charles to be my Exors to to [sic] this my Last will & Testament and I Rattifie & Confirm this my Last will & Testament & no other. Roy At a Court held for the County of Shanando on Thursday the 30th day of March 1786 This Last Will & Testament of John Calfee decd. was produced to the Court by Charles Calfee one of the Exors therein named which was proved by the oaths of William Crum John Roy & Duskin Tibbs & ordered to be recorded.
