Leah Leeth’s Will Sept. 1797 ______ Book N5 fol 107 (Will book 5 or E, Pg. 107 A&B In the name of God Amen. I Leah Leeth widow of the parish of Bufort in the county of Shenandoah and State of Virginia being Weak in body but of sound mind and memory Calling to mind the Uncertainty of life and that it is appointed for all to die do make and ordain this and no other my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz......... First and Principally I recommend my soul to God that gave it and as to my Body I Desire that it may be Buried in a Decent manner at the Discretion of my Ex’tors and as touching such Worldly estate Where with it has pleased God to Bless my with I Dispose thereof in manner following, I Desire that all my Debts and funeral Charges be first paid and satisfied. Item I give and Devise unto my son William Tyler all my right Title Claim on Demand of the plantation Whereon I now live Which land Was Will’d to me by my father Robert McKay and all other lands Which should ball to me in a settlement of the grant Suit now Depending. I Likewise give to my said son. I Likewise give to my son William Tyler my big Bible. Item I five and Devise unto my grandaughter Marget Whitson one Brown mare Which she has in her possession and one fether Bed and furniture known by my Bed and Likewise all my Pewter and other Dresser and Cobbard furniture I Likewise give to my said grandauagher one skillet one Dutch Oven and two small pots. Item I five and Devise to my Grandson Joseph Whitson one Dark Bay Mare and one Bed Which Bed is to be in the care of his Uncle William Tyler until he Comes of Age 20?? Item I Likewise give and Bequeath to my Grandson James Whitson one Bay Mare Colt and one Brown Cow and one Bed Which bed is to be in the Care of his Uncle William Tyler until he shall comes of Age 20?? and the Residue of my Estate Which I have not Devised to be equally Divided between my two grandsons Viz Joseph and James Whitson.
