She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bronda Lee Holmes Elliott. She was a member of the First Church of God in Allison Gap and she was a retired beautician. Survivors include one son, Garold Dean Holmes of Collins, Ohio; one daughter, Alvajean Holmes Donnelly of Emory; one sister, Thelma Taladay of Glade Spring; one son-in-law, James Oliver Elliott of Beavercreek, Ohio; two special cousins, Jack C. Harris of Washington, D.C. and Eleanor Robbins of Clinchburg; six grandsons, Wray Elliott, Jeffrey Elliott, Vincent Holmes, Jerry Holmes, Justin Holmes and Joshua Holmes; four granddaughters, Cindy Simpson, Dottie Holmes, Rachelle Holmes and Tracy Holmes; several great-grandchildren; Viers family nephews, Todd Viers, Jr. and Junior Henderson; Viers family nieces, Janie Zell Asbury, Leslie Jane Henderson, Koleda Mae Ferguson and Darla Kay Wynegar; Holmes family nephews ,James and Ray Holmes; and Holmes family nieces, Lee Etta DeWitt, Barbara Layne Taylor, Ella Mae Harris and Mary Sue Gillespie. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday evening, Feb. 22, 2005, at The First Church of God in Allison Gap with the Rev. David Mumpower and the Rev. Derrel Souvine officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at 10 a.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, Feb. 22, 2005, just prior to the funeral service. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is in charge of arrangements.
