He was born in Washington County to the late Lord Emory and Nettie Mae Thomas Barlow and was preceded in death by his sister, Carrie Owens and a brother, John Barlow. He had worked as a dairy farmer and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Nancy Barlow; his children, Sarah and Lacy Rogers and Roy and Carla Barlow, all of Damascus and Lora and Walter Barron, Jr. of Marion; three brothers, Eliuh Barlow and Eugene Barlow, both of Glade Spring and Ernest Barlow of Norfolk; four sisters, Minnie Faye Widner of Chilhowie, Dorothy Widner, Margie Thomas and Edna Thomas, all of Glade Spring; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no public funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mr. Barlow to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, Canton, Ohio, 44720. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the residence of Lora and Walter Barron, Jr. Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements.
