Blevins CHILHOWIE -- William Basil "Rabbit" Blevins, 90, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. Mr. Blevins was born in Smyth County on April 6, 1912, to the late Rev. AA and Theodoshia Pennington Blevins. He was the eldest father of the Grosses Creek Baptist Church where he was a trustee for over 35 years. Mr. Blevins retired from Brunswick Corp. after 38 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blevins was preceded in death by one grandchild. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Combs Blevins; one son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Betty Blevins, Marion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delcie and Jack Williams, Chilhowie and Magdalene and Jimmie Craft, Chilhowie; two sisters, Charmie Mann, Chilhowie and Inez Gwinn, Marion; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. Also she is survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held will held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Grosses Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Lloyd Sheets, Avery Sheets and Darrell Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Grosses Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at the Bradley-Finney Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie. Bradley-Finney Funeral Chapel of Chilhowie is serving the Blevins Family.
