Born Sept. 25, 1919, in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Helton and Bertha McCracken Helton. She was a former employee of the Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon for many years. She attended Hyters Gap Community Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Lawrence Helton; a son, Gerald Boardwine; an infant sister; and several half brothers and sisters. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Paul Boardwine; a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Randall Combs of Lebanon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Kathy Boardwine of Atkins and David and Zelma Boardwine of Abingdon; a nephew that she raised as a son, Jessee Helton and wife, Karen, of Abingdon; brother and sister-in-law, Fitzhugh and Betty Helton of Meadowview; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Randy Key and the Rev. Jim Odum officiating. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Tuesday evening, March 1, 2005, at the funeral home. Combs Funeral Service in Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.
