Whitt Brewer Burgess, 64, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at her home in Marion. She was born in Smyth County to the late James and Margaret Ashby Whitt and was preceded in death by her first husband, James Bud Brewer; her second husband, Clyde Stan Burgess; two brothers, James Alvin and Norman Carwood Whitt; three sisters, Martha Jane Whitt, Dorothy Mildred Cress and Edna Ruth Patrick; and a step son, James Burgess. Survivors include one daughter, Lucinda (Cindy) Brewer of Marion; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sheila Brewer of Marion; granddaughter, Brandi Brewer; grandson, Jason Creasy; two great-granddaughters, Zoey and Jocelyn; one great-grandson, Jaden; three sisters, Mary Geneva Brown and Freda Irene Whitt, both of Marion, Mary Caroline Ratcliff of Chilhowie; five sisters-in-law, Wanda Whitt and Katie Whitt Hutton, both of Marion, Charlotte Jones and Eileen Worley, both of Chilhowie and Betty Buchanan of Rockville, Md.; four brothers-in-law, Edgar Cress of Marion, Jackie Ratcliff of Chilhowie, David C. Burgess of Roanoke and Harold Burgess of Fredrick, Md.; two step children, Sandy Burgess and Terri Chambers; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Tina Holman Oakes. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at 11 a.m. from the Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with Pastor Paul Horton officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements.
