She was a loving mother, wife and sister who always put her family ahead of her own needs and will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Carter; a grandson, Larry Wayne Carter Jr.; her parents, W.C. and Georgia Moore; two brothers, Mack and Bruce Moore; and one sister, Jo Ann Moore. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Chatham Hill First Church of God. She is survived by one daughter, George "Patsy" Cook, Rich Valley; one son, Larry Carter and wife Iris, Marion; one grandson, Geoffrey Cook and wife Annasue, Abingdon; one granddaughter, Mrs. Steve (Kimberly) Sayers, Marion; great-grandson, Matthew Cook; one sister, Mrs. Otis (Jean) Bise, Saltville; six brothers, W.C. Moore Jr., Rich Valley, Robert Moore, Kalamazoo, Mich., Jerry Moore, Parrish, Fla., Vance Moore, Rural Retreat, Va., Willis Moore, Marion and Donald Moore, Rich Valley; special niece, Marsha Fowler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Chatham Hill First Church of God with Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 p.m. Monday evening at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville or at the home of Patsy Cook or Larry Carter any time. Special thanks to the staff of Francis Marion Manor and the fourth floor nurses at Smyth County Community Hospital. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home is serving the Carter family.
