He was born September 26, 1917, in Chatham Hill, to the late Arthur and Fannie Buchanan Coulthard. He was also preceded in death by Hilda Mae Coulthard, his wife of 65 years; a sister, Marilou Compton; and brothers, Alvie Coulthard and William Coulthard. He was a lifelong resident of Saltville and a member of Madam Russell United Methodist Church. He was a retired foreman at Olin Corporation and a master craftsman in brick and stonework. He was an avid sports fan and his hobbies were hunting and fishing. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Stewart Minnick of Bristol; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Diana Coulthard of Tazewell, Bill Coulthard of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Ron and Lynn Coulthard of Boone, N.C.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Theo Coulthard of Marion and Robert and Page Coulthard of Sugar Grove; one sister and brother-in-law, June and David Overbay of Chilhowie; special friend, Betty Joan Coulthard of Winston Salem, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Betty Zane Davidson and husband, Berkley, of Bristol, Tenn., and Mattie Heneger of Saltville; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Weikel officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by Mr. Wiley Neal at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in Ridgedale Cemetery with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ridgedale Cemetery Fund at Ridgedale United Methodist Church, 112 Ridgedale Rd. Saltville, Va. 24370. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home just prior to the funeral service. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is in charge of arrangements.
