Darnell MARION -- James H. Darnell, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at home. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army and Navy. He retired from Brunswick Corp. with many years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Olivette Hall Darnell of Marion; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nancy Darnell of Ruckersville, Va.; two sisters, Marie Atwood and Fannie Clark, both of Troutdale, Va.; one brother, Ted Darnell of Marion; two stepdaughters, Judy Grady of Christiansburg and Betty Carol Hall of Marion; one stepson, Allen Haulsey of Marion; two grandchildren, Shandi Darnell and Thomas Darnell of Ruckersville; and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Seaver- Brown Chapel with Rev. Herman Cress officiating. Burial will follow at Slemp Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1 until 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 W. Ridge Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is serving the Darnell family.
