She was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Rural Retreat. She was a lifetime member of the Grace Lutheran Church, W.E.L.C.A. and the church choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Crockett DeLauney; her parents, Harvey Joel and Mamie Buck Greever; a grandson, John Frederick Herbert; a brother, John Harvey Greever; and a sister, Elizabeth Greever Brown. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane DeLauney Herbert of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., Elizabeth DeLauney and Buddy Lyons of Crockett; two grandchildren and their spouses, Kathy and Michael Whalen of Speedwell, and Chuck and Tammy Lyons of Palmyra; five great-grandchildren, Kate, Jake, Caleb, Trey and Jay; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Rural Retreat, with Pastor Edward Schaack and Vicar Liv Larson officiating. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery, Rural Retreat. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Grace Lutheran Church or to the Lutheran Church Hunger Appeal. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat was in charge of the arrangements.
