He was born in Bland County, the son of the late Joe Henry and Ruth Gray Rose Havens. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force and was preceded in death by three brothers, Muncy Robert Havens, Walter Arthur (Toad) Havens and William U. Havens. Survivors include two sisters, Beatrice H. Parks of Sugar Grove and Della Mae Stowers of Wytheville; one sister-in-law, Margie S. Havens of Atkins; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jody Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Community Church Cemetery (Crawfish Valley) in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lindsey Funeral Home. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat is in charge of arrangements.
