Thomas Havens, 78, of New Castle, Del., died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. She was born on Aug. 11, 1926 in Smyth County, daughter of the late William Thomas and Virginia Anderson Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William “Dink” Thomas. She moved from Sugar Grove to Delaware in 1964 and worked for 17 years at the former Medical Center of Delaware before retiring as an assistant manager in the textile services department. A devout Christian, she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. In her leisure time, she greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Joe Havens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe C. and Louise Havens and Bill and Donna Havens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dick Kelly and Joyce and Gary Hutton; two brothers, Cecil and Jim Thomas; three sisters, Margie Bullins, Kate Obranovic and Lillian Short; and 12 grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home in New Castle, Del. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N.
