Hawkins RICH VALLEY, Va. - Roger L. "Block" Hawkins, 56, died Monday,. Dec. 9, 2002, at his home. He was a loving father and husband and was a member of Chatham Hill Independent Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Hawkins and Dean Hawkins; a sister, Evelyn Piehl; and his parents, Wiley and Laura Hawkins. He is survived by his wife, Ethena Carter Hawkins of Rich Valley; two sons, Douglas E. Hawkins of Bristol Tennessee, and Ronnie "Petie" Hawkins of Chilhowie; one stepdaughter, Debra Pickel of Atkins, Va.; four sisters, Ruth Barrineau of Colorado Springs, Colo., Linda Widner of Marion, and Wanda Ashby and Peggy Evans, both of Chilhowie; three brothers, Bill Hawkins of Waxhaw, N.C., Clay Hawkins of Clarksville, Tenn.,. and Charles Hawkins of Chilhowie; two grandchildren, Casey Hawkins and Alexis Hawkins; two step-grandchildren, Troy Pickel and Travis Pickel; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Jerry Yates and Rev. Joe Powers officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Ridgedale Cemetery, Rich Valley, Va. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to Hospice of Southwestern Virginia, 600 West Ridge Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is serving the Hawkins Family.
