He was born in Wythe County, a son of the late Samuel and Loetta Kincer Hilton. He was a former employee of Southern States of Rural Retreat. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Hilton, Glen Reid Hilton and Calvin “Cotton” Hilton; and two sisters, Della Harmon and Julia Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Vella Hall Hilton of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin and Jo Anne Hilton of Wytheville, and Donald and Barbara Hilton of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Betty Perry of Wytheville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Sturgill, Andrew and Mandy Hilton, and Ashley and Brandon Perry; four great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eldon and Wanda Hall of Pawleys Island, S.C. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat is in charge of arrangements.
