She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hood, Sr. She was born in Greencove and retired from University Hospital after working as a dietician for 20 years. She was devoted to her faith and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Wymer of Marion, Nancy English and Patricia Sousa, both of Augusta, Ga.; two sons, James Walls of Roanoke and Lester Hood, Jr. of Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Geraldine Blevins of Roanoke; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Friday morning, Feb. 4, 2005, at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Frankie May officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Rd., Augusta, Ga. 30904. The family received friends Thursday evening, Feb. 3, 2005, at the funeral home. Platts Funeral Home in Augusta, Ga., was in charge of arrangements. o
