Hopkins MARION -- Mrs. Pauline Sheets Hopkins, 81, died Wednesday at her residence in Marion. She was born in Ashe County, N.C., to the late Baxter and Ada Sheets and was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hopkins; her son, Randy Hopkins; two brothers, Cliff and Denver Sheets; and one sister, Blanche Flowers. She was retired from Southwestern Virginia State Hospital as a registered nurse and worked at Smyth County Community Hospital as a pink lady. She was a member of Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church. Survivors include three sisters, Lillian Reeves of Laurel Spring, N.C., Shelia Degroat of Arvada, Colo., and Jo Bolt of Middle River, Md.; one brother, Bobby Sheets of Laurel Spring; one granddaughter, Michelle Rogers Hayden of Atkins; two great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Hunter Hayden; daughter-in-law, Judy Hopkins of Marion; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations can be made to Freedom Tabernacle, Freedom Tabernacle Lane, Atkins, VA 24311. Bradley's Funeral Home, Marion, is serving the Hopkins family.
