Osborne Jr., 86, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie. He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, member of Francis Marion VFW Post 4667, member and Past Master of Chilhowie Masonic Lodge No. 250 A.F.& A.M., member and Past High Priest of Marion Royal Arch Chapter No. 54, member and Past Commander of Lynn Commandry No. 9, Smyth County Chapter of Shriners, member of Kazim Temple, Roanoke, and member of Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Hayes Osborne; one daughter, Carolyn Gettier and husband, Russell, of Portsmouth; one sister, Delta Yarborough of Dayton, Tenn.; two grandsons, Jason Hawks and wife, Dawn, of Portsmouth and Otis Jefferson Hawks of Lutz, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Rachel Hawks and Zackery Hawks of Portsmouth; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Osborne of Spring City, Tenn., Helen Hayes of Chilhowie and Jody Graham of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Cleghorn Baptist Church with Revs. Wesley G. Eller and Charles E. Blevins officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday at Cleghorn Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Middle Fork Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be by Francis Marion VFW Post 4667. Pallbeaers wil be Tommy Osborne, Arthur Osborne, Danny Henderson, Jerry Widener, George McGhee, Trampas Stamper, Johnny Osborne and Kenneth Morrison. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Cleghorn Baptist Church. Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie, is in charge of arrangements.
