He was born in Jellico, Tenn., to the late Floyd and Sallie Jones Kirk and was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Kirk, Lula Woods, Edna Seymour and Lettie Atwood; one brother, Charles Kirk; and two infant sisters. He was a member of the U.S. Army having served in WW II and was a member of the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 44 years where he had served as a trustee. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Taylor Kirk; one daughter, Betty Kirk of Marion; one son, James Randy Kirk of Marion; one sister, Frances "Topsy" Sage of Homestead, Fla.; seven grandsons, Levi Kirk, David Kirk, Joseph Kirk, Randy Kirk, Darrell Oakes, Chad Oakes, Todd Oakes; seven great-grandchildren, Meagen Wright, Collin Oakes, Cameron Kirk, Austin Kirk, Michael Oakes, Sarah Beth Oakes, Hannah Noel Kirk; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with the Rev. Gary Trout and the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Interment will follow in Troutdale Cemetery with full military honors being rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements. o
