He was a 1972 graduate of Chilhowie High School and a 1976 graduate of Emory and Henry College. His father, Ernest Wade Martin, Sr. and a brother, William Robert Martin, preceded him in death. Survivors include his son, Sam Martin of Galax; his mother, Mickey Martin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Charlie Keen and Tammy and Shawn Davie, all of Chilhowie; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Martin of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Ronnie Blevins and Earl Martin. Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. John H. Graham officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chilhowie Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 5012, Chilhowie, Va. 24319 or to the Mountain View United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1722, Chilhowie, Va. 24319. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, from 2-3 p.m. at the Mountain View United Methodist Church, prior to the graveside service. Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie is in charge of arrangements.
