Mitchell, 44, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at his home in Saltville. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Gilmer Mitchell, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Wyndom and Margie Mitchell; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Mamie Hayden. Survivors include his mother, Sadie Hayden Mitchell; four brothers and sisters- in-law, Wayne and Barbara Mitchell, Jerry and Delores Mitchell, Junie and Lucille Mitchell and Wesley and Melissa Mitchell, all of Saltville; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bill Wyatt of Stuart, Retha and Mike Moore, Ellen Mitchell, Lisa Mitchell, and Amy and William Hart, all of Saltville; special friend, John Griffey; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2005, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Holley oficiated. Burial followed in the Elizabeth Cemetery. The family received friends Monday evening, Feb. 21, 2005, at the funeral home. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.
