Peters Sr., 70, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his home. He was born Dec. 30, 1933, in Towson, Md., to the late Frank and Nona Wastler Peters. He was a faithful member of The Church of God, Friendly Circle in Marion. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U. S. Army where he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, and was a member of the Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. He was a retired Smyth County school bus driver and an excellent craftsman and woodworker. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Haga Peters of Sugar Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law, C. Ernie Jr. and Kathy Peters of Sugar Grove and C. Bruce and Cindy Peters of Emory; one sister, Jane E. Colley of Edgewood, Md.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2004, at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Paul Horton officiating. Burial followed in Blue Springs Cemetery in Camp where military rites were conducted by the Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. The family received friends Saturday evening, Dec. 4, 2004, at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service in Marion was in charge of arrangements.
