Richardson MARION -- Arlis Eugene Richardson, 70, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. He was the son of the late E.G. "Bill" and Ruby Vernon Richardson. Arlis had a successful managerial career at Brunswick Corporation for 23 years. In 1974, he became the proprietor of Richardson's Jewelry in Marion for nearly 25 years. He accomplished this despite not receiving a formal college education through talent, hard work and life experiences. However, Arlis understood the improtance of college, as evidenced by his support in the educational accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He served his community in a quiet manner, as a Little League coach, business leader, loving husband, wonderful father and "cheerleader" for those in need of words of encouragement and support. His zest, joy and humor in life improved the quality of many individual lives. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends, but especially his best friend, his son, Jeff.
