Spitzer MARION -- Kathleen D. Spitzer departed this earth on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, and joined her Lord and Savior for eternity. She was residing at the AG Rhodes/ Wesley Woods nursing home adjacent to Emory University in Atlanta since mid-1999. Kathy, as everyone remembers her, moved to Marion in 1946, and was a long time resident until she moved to Ft. Myers, Fla., in 1984. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Kirk E. Spitzer and his wife, Leila, who reside in Richmond, Barry L. Spitzer and his wife, Debbie, who reside in St. Louis, Mo., and R. Steven Spitzer and his wife, Linda, who reside in Atlanta. In addition, there are her grandsons, Bryan Spitzer, Craig Spitzer and his wife, Helen, Brett Spitzer, Brent Spitzer, Todd Spitzer, Conner Spitzer and Tyler Spitzer; and a granddaughter, Kathleen Spitzer. Kathy was born in Matepedia, Quebec, Canada, and was one of 12 children. She moved to Long Island, N.Y., in the late 1930's, where she met and married Edgar Spitzer in 1942. They subsequently moved to Marion in 1946, and Kathy became a USA citizen 1948. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Caldwell and Lena Gollon; and a brother, Walton McDavid. Kathy is best remembered for her love of immediate family and friends, the outdoors and the seashore, and a quiet, firm commitment to our Lord. The family will receive visitors at Saver-Brown Chapel from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, with a private burial to follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery, where her cremated remains will be placed adjacent to her beloved husband, Edgar E.
