He was born in Chilhowie and had served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Anchor Continental, Inc., in sales. He was an active member of the Peachtree Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America and was a member of the North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, Fla. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Clara C. Stump of Lady Lake, Fla.; two sons, Barry Stump of Aurora, Ohio and Randy Stump of Fort Mill, S.C.; three daughters, Teri Necessary of Norcross, Ga. and Karen Stump and Tammy Bunkley, both of Tallahassee, Fla. one brother, C.E. Stump, Jr. of Marion; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Dec. 28, 2004, at North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, Fla. with the Rev. Stanley J. O’Loughlin officiating. Interment was in Florida National Cemetery. The family received friends Monday evening, Dec. 27, 2004 at the funeral home. Beyers Funeral Home, Inc. in Lady Lake Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
