He was born Sept. 19, 1937, in San Francisco, Calif., to the late Alfred and Hattie Tollner and was the youngest of six children. He grew up and was educated in Daly City, Calif. After graduating from high school, he served four years in the United States Navy. He returned to California and attended college. He was introduced to Jehovah's Witness in 1958. After an in-depth study of the Bible, he was baptized on March 21, 1959. He married Linda Gordon on June 10, 1972, in Davis, Calif., where they lived until Jan. 1975, when he and Linda established Bob's Brite-ner Cleaning Service in Marion offering employment to many in the area. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Linda Tollner; sister, Beverly Cox of California; father-in-law, Wilbur Gordon; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Roger and Adrea Gordon, Donald and Terry Gordon, Marian Gordon, Nancy and Ken Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be open to the public, and all are warmly invited. The services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2510 Highway 16 S., Marion. Cremation Society of Virginia in Marion is in charge of arrangements.
