She was born in Chilhowie to the late George Robert Troxel and Myrtle Obala Snavely Troxel. She graduated from the Barrick School in Loves Mill and was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. She graduated from Emory & Henry College and the Peabody College. She taught high school in Howard County, Md. and retired as the assistant English professor at Morehead State College in Kentucky. Survivors include 20 nieces and nephews; Martha Lee of Joppa, Md., Cecil Troxel and Danny Troxel, both of Monkton, Md., Glenn Troxel of Pace, Fla., Mary Hilse of Stewarts Town, Pa., Carl Troxel and Minnis Troxel, both of Parkton, Md., Raymond Cole of Conowingo, Md., Robert Cole, Kenny Cole, and Roy Cole, all of Rising Sun, Md., Doris Groff of Elkton, Md., Harvey M. Barlow of Stuarts Draft, Carlton W. Barlow of Bethany, Okla., Robert L. Barlow of Valdosta, Ga., Samuel D. Barlow of Smyrna, Ga., Franklin M. Barlow of Delta, Pa., Thomas W. Catawba, Pa., Theodore T. Barlow and Barbara Barlow Collins, both of Mt. Solon. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2005, from the Bradley’s Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie. The Rev. Harry Hight officiated the ceremony. Interment followed in the Lebanon Church Cemetery. Flowers were appreciated. Memorial contributions can be made to Emory & Henry College. Bradley’s Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie was in charge of arrangements.
