She was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Henrytown to the late William Lee and Leona Elizabeth (Bettie) Love Shortt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland Thomas Yontz; son, David Neal Yontz; an infant grandson, Jimmy Brian Woody; an infant great- granddaughter, Carson Alyse Counts; brothers, Lloyd, Otis, Earl and Lewis; and sisters, Blanche, Callie, Anna Lee and Nellie. Survivors include her loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Fred T. and Jean Yontz of Powhatan; their son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Annette Yontz and granddaughter, Rachel, daughter and son-in-law, Beth Y. and Michael Baird and grandson, Scott; Garland Warren (PeeWee) and Marlene Yontz of China Grove, N.C., their son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dale Yontz and granddaughters, Kristin and Catherine; Doris Y. and Dennis Falter of Raleigh, N.C.; Don E. and Marie Yontz of Sanford, Fla., their daughter, Cynthia Yontz, son, Robert Yontz and granddaughter, Carly, son, William Yontz and fiancée, Ruth, son, Scott and Colleette Wharton and granddaughter, Brooke, granddaughter; Amy Yontz Counts, and daughters, Bailey and Addison Paige (daughter of David Neal Yontz); Dale K. (Duke) and Wynette Yontz of Wytheville; their son and daughter-in-law, Dale T. and Robin Yontz and a grandchild on the way; Joy Y. Husinko of Broadford, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Debbie Husinko and grandchildren, Brian and Alexandra; daughter, Jennifer Husinko Cudd and grandchildren, Sarah and Lee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John Hobart and Ruth Shortt of Saltville and Glenn and Ethel Shortt of Heflin, Ala. Funeral services were conducted Thursday evening, Dec. 30, 2004, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Kestner and son, Fred T. Yontz officiated the ceremony. Burial was Friday morning, Dec. 31, 2004, in Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring. The family received friends Thursday evening, Dec. 30, 2004, just prior to the funeral service. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.
