She was related by blood to The Drews, The Ruffins, The Greys, The Godwins and other families of standing in that part of the Colony in which she was born. She was piously inclined and much attracted to the Episcopal Church. She lived a life of great usefulness and honor, and performed in the most unexceptional manner all the duties of a daughter, a wife, and a mother. Her character was firm and strong but just and kind, and for those near and dear and dependent on her she had the gentleness and devotion of a true woman. In person she was tall, portly and dignified; her hair was dark and abundant, and preserved its color to old age; her features were not such as would be called portly, but her eyes were peculiar and beautiful, large, dark grey, clear and steadfast. She lived to be an old woman and died calmly and happily, respected and beloved by all who knew her. And venerated by her children and their descendants.
