All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Court Records Robert BEVAN & daughter Keziah BEVAN and Harriss HOLLEMAN, settlement, 20 May 1830 (19 Jul 1830) [margin note] Bevan To Holleman Delivered to Harriss Holleman [date illegible] Whereas a certain matter of Controversy has been pending between the undersigned and Harriss Holleman about an alledged promise of marriage and Seduction of the undersigned Keziah Bevan and the undersigned and Said Harriss Holleman being desirous of putting an end to Said controversy have agreed to compromise the Same upon the Said Harriss Holleman paying to the undersigned Robert Bevan the Sum of two hundred and fifty dollars on condition that the Said Robert Bevan Will dismiss all Suits or actions against Said Harriss Holleman and that both the undersigned will relinquish and abandon all claim or demand on the Said Harriss Holleman on account of Said Controversy each party paying his own costs that is each to pay all the Cost that has accrued on his own Side of the Suit, from the Commencement thereof to the present day; Now Therefore in Consideration of the premises and for the further Consideration of the Said two hundred and fifty dollars the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the undersigned Robert Bevan and Keziah Bevan do acknowledge themselves compensated and Satisfied for and on account of the Said Supposed greivance and they and each of them do hereby absolve and acquit the Said Harriss Holleman from all further claim demand or damages on account of any Supposed greivances by either of them Sustained by reason of Said alledged promise of marriage and Seduction and also from all Claim or demand for the Support or maintenance of the child of the Said Keziah Bevan.
