All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records Benjamin JENKINS & wife Else to Spencer JENKINS, deed of bargain & sale, 200 acres, 13 Feb 1755 [margin notes] Jenkins & ux to Jenkins d'd to Spencer Jenkins This Indenture made the thirteenth Day of February one thousand seven hundred fifty & five Between Benjamin Jenkins & Else his wife of Southampton County of the one part & Spencer Jenkins of the Same County of the other part Witnesseth the said Benjamin Jenkins & Else his wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of Twelve Pounds to them in Hand paid by the said Spencer Jenkins at and before the insealing & Delivery of these presents the Receipt Whereof the said Benjamin Jenkins and Else his wife hath Granted Bargained & Sold Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed & by these Presents doth Grant Bargain & Sell Alien Enfeoff & Confirm unto the said Spencer Jenkins his Heirs & Assigns forever A Certain tract or Parcel of Land Containing two hundred Acres be the Same More or less Situate Lying & being in Nottoway Parish in the County Af'sd Bounded as ~ followeth Beginning at the Mouth of the Cross Branch Making out of Tarropen Swamp Up the said Cross Branch to a Gum Upon the Cross Branch so along the said Line to a White oak a Corner Tree of Boykins line so along the said line to a pine a Corner Tree of Atkinsons Line along the said line to the Run of Tarropen Swamp the Run of Tarropen Swamp to the Mouth of the Cross Branch being the Beginning & also Trees Woods under Woods Commons of Pasture Commodities Advantages Emoluments and Hereditaments Whatsoever to the said Land above Mentioned and Belonging or in any wise Appurtaining or in or Upon the same Happening Growing or Ariseing and Also the Reversion and Reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents and Services of the said Premises and every part there =of and Also the Estate Right Title Interest Claim & Demand Whatsoever of him the said Benjamin Jenkins of in or to the same premises and every part thereof To have and to hold all and Singular the said Premises above Mentioned every part there with the Appurtenances there unto Belonging Unto the Spencer Jenkins his Heirs and Assigns to the only proper Use and behoof him the said Spencer Jenkins and his Heirs and the said Benjamin Jenkins for himself and his Heirs the said Tract or Parcel of Land with the Appurtenances Above Mentioned and Every [page break] [p.] 58) part thereof Against him and his Heirs and Against all & every other Person & Persons What= =soever the said Spencer Jenkins his Heirs and Assigns and shall & will Warrant and forever Defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Benjamin Jenkins and Else his Wife hath hereunto put their Hands and Affixt their Seals the Day and Year Above Written Sign'd Seal'd & Delivered his in the Presence of us of Benjamin B Jenkins /Ls/ Daniel Herring Mark John Spencer his Thomas + Hardyman Mark Memorandum that on the thirteenth Day of February in the year of our Lord God one Thousand seven hundred fifty & five I Benjamin Jenkins did by Turf & Twig deliver unto the within Named Spencer Jenkins Possession and Seison of the Land and Premises within Mentioned To have to the said Spencer Jenkins his Heirs and Assigns forever According to the true intent and meaning of the within written Deed Signed and delivered } his in Presence of us ~ } Benjamin B Jenkins Daniel Herring Mark John Spencer his Thos. + Hardyman Mark At a Court held for the County of Southampton on Thursday the 13th Day of February 1755 This Indenture and the Memorandum of Livery of Seison thereon endorsed were acknowledged by the within named Benjamin Jenkins Party thereto & Ordered to be Recorded Test R.
