All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds Benjamin WESTRA & wife Elizabeth to William ROWE, indenture dated 2 Mar 1757, acknowledged 10 Mar 1757 [margin notes] Westra & ux to Roe This Indenture made this Second Day of March in the year of our Lord Christ One Thousand seven hundred & fifty Seven Between Benjamin Westeror & Eliz.a his Wife of Southampton County of the one part & William Roe of the s,d County of the Other part Witnesseth that the s.d Benjamin Westeror & Eliz.a his Wife for & in Consideration of the sum of Fifteen pounds Current Money of Virg.a to them in hand paid the Receipt whereof they doth hereby Acknowledge themselves fully satisfied & paid have Bargained Sold Aliend Enfeof'd & Confirmed & by these presents doth Bargain sell Alien Enfeof & forever confirm unto the s.d W.m Roe his Heirs & Assigns forever all the Right Title Interest possession Claim & Demand of him the s.d Benjamin Westeror & Eliz.a his Wife all that Tract or Percel of Land containing One Hundred Acres more or less Bounded as followeth that is to say beginning at a Gum standing in the Cypress Swamp at the Mouth of a Branch so up the Branch to a pine a Corner Tree between Eliz:th Clother & Mary Clother then along the s.d Clothers Line to a Marked black oak so Runing down a line of Marked trees so down to the head of the Deviding Branch from thence down to the swamp & then up the swamp to the first station To have & to hold the s.d Hundred Acres of Land more or less to the s.d William Roe his Heirs Ex'ors Adm'ors and Assigns forever & the s.d Benjamin Westeror & Elizabeth his Wife for themselves their Heirs Ex'ors Adm'ors shall & will Warrant the s.d Land & premises unto the s.d W.m Roe his Heirs Ex'ors Adm'ors and Assigns from all manner of persons laying any Claim by from or Under them In Witness whereof the s.d Benj.a Westeror & Eliz.a his Wife hath hereunto set their Hands & seals the Day & Date first above writen Sign'd Seal'd & Deliver'd} Benj.a Westra /Ls/ in presence of us } her W.m Haynes Eliz.a E Westra /Ls/ Henry Joyner mark Chris.r W Wade [page break] [p.] 156) Rec'd this Second Day of March of W.m Roe the full Consideration within Mentioned &c Teste W.m Haynes Pr.
