This Indenture made this Ninth day of August in the year of our Lord Christ One 
Thousand Seven Hundred & fifty Nine & in thirty Third Year of the Reign of our Sovereign

Lord King George the second  Between Josiah John Holliman of the paris^ of Nottoway & County 
of Southampton & Ann his Wife of the one part & William Rand of the paris of Newport in the County 
of Isle of Wight of the other part, Witnesseth. that the said Josiah John Holliman for & in Consideration 
of the sum of thirty Pounds Curr't money of Virginia to him in hand paid  the Receipt whereof he 
Doth hereby acknowledge & him self to be fully Satisfied Contented & paid  they the said 
Josiah John Holliman & Ann his Wife have given granted bargained & Sold & do by these presents 
give grant bargain & Sell unto the said Wm. Rand his heirs & Assigns for ever  all that Messuage Land &

Tenement Situate lying & being of West side of the main Black Water Swamp in the paris of Nottoway 
& County of Southampton Containing by Estimation One hundred Acres (be the same more or Less) & 
Bounded as followeth  beging at the Run of the main Black Water Swamp at Edw'd Boykins Line 
so along the said Boykins Line. to a Cross Branch which Divides this Land from Richard Jacksons, so 
along the run of the said Branch to the run of the main Black Water Swamp  so down the run of the

said Swamp to the first Station, & all houses, Gardens, Orchards, Ways Water^ & Water Courses profits 
Commodities, Advantages Hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the said Tract or Parcel 
of Land belonging or in any wise appurtaining & the revertion & revertions Remainder and 
Remainders Rents Issues & Profits thereof & also all the Estate Right Title Intrest Property Claim and 
Demand whatsoever of him the said Josiah John Holliman & Ann his Wife & their heirs of in & to the said 
Land & premises or any part thereof  To have & to hold the said Land & Premises with all & Singular 
the appurtenances thereunto beloning unto the said Wm. Rand his heirs & assigns to the only proper use 
& behoof of the said W'm. Rand his heirs & Assigns forever & the said Josiah John Holliman & Ann his Wife 
for themselves their heirs Exe'tors & Adm'tors do covenant promise & agree to & with the said Wm. Band his 
heirs & assigns by these presents that they the said Josiah John Holliman & Ann his Wife & their heirs 
the afore said Land & premises against themselves & their heirs & Against all & every person or 
persons claiming the same shall & will warrant & forever Defend unto the said W'm Rand his heirs and 
Assigns for ever  In Witness whereof the said Jos' J'hn Holliman & Ann his Wife have hereunto set their hands
