Between Edward Almond of the parish of Newport in the County of Isle of Wight planter of the one part and Edward Britt of the parish of Nottoway in the County of Southampton planter of the other part Witnesseth that the sd. Edward Almond for and in Consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Edward Britt receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and discharge the said Edward Britt hath granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmd and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Edward Britt & to his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or percel of land situate lying and being on the head of Tuckers swamp in the parish and County of Southampton containing [page break] [p.] 213 by Estimation two hundred & twenty four acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth Beginning at a red oak a corner of John Boykins land and from thence along the sd. Boykins lines to a corner tree of Arthur Attkins land and from thence along the said Attkins line to a red oak a corner tree of the said Atkins land and from thence along the said Allins line to a pine another corner of the said Allins line and from thence along the said Allins line to a pine a corner of Joseph Turners land and from thence along a new line to a black oak a corner tree of th sd. land and from thence along the said line to a lightwood post a corner of Benjamin Britt & Edward Britt land and from thence along the said Britts line to a pine a corner a corner tree of the sd. Britts land and from thence along the sd. Britts line to a white Oak a corner of the said Britts land and from thence along the said Britts line to a pine a corner of the sd. Britts land and from thence along the said line to a red Oak, a Corner tree of Edward Britts Snr. Land and from thence along the said Britt snr. line to a pine a corner of the said land and from thence along the said Britts line to the beginning it being part of a tract or parcel of land which the said Edward Almond bought of Arthur Sherred partly hereto relation being thereto had may more fully and at large appear And all houses outhouses edifices buildings yards gardens orchards woods under woods trees ways waters water courses profits comodities hereditaments appurt's thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and the reversions remainder and remainders rents Issues & profits thereof and of every part and parcel thereof And all the estate right title intrest property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Edward Almond of in or to the same or any part thereof and all deeds Evidences and writings touching or in any wise concerning the said premises To have and to hold the said tract or or parcel of land and premises with the appurt's unto the said Edward Britt and to his heirs and assigns to the only use and behoof of the said Edward Britt his heirs & Assigns forever and the said Edward Almond for himself his heirs ex'ors and adm'rs doth covenant promise and grant to and with the said Jesse Britt his heirs & assigns forever by these presents in manner and form following that is to say that he the said Edward Almond at the time of the ensealing & delivery of these presents hath god right full wower and lawful authority to sell & convey all and singular the said tract or parcel of land and premises with the appurt's herein before mentioned unto the said Edward Britt in fee Simple and that he the said Edward Almond is seised of a good and indefeasible estate in fee in the same at the time of executing this conveyance and that the and the sd. Edward Britt his heirs and assigns shall and may at all times forever hereafter peaceable and quietly have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said premises with the appurt's free clear and discharged of and from the title claim and demand of any person or persons and from all dowers intails mortgages debts Judgments and Executions and all other incumbrances of what nature or kind soever and also that he the said Edward Almond and his heirs the said tract and parcel of land and premises with the appurt's unto the said Edward Britt his heirs and assigns ag'st all and every person and persons whatsoever Lawfully claiming or to claim the same shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Edward Almond hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his Seal the day and year first above written. Britt [page break] [p.] 213a Memorandum that on the 9 day of may 1763 full possession and seisin of the land tenements and premises within mentioned was had and taken by the within named Edward Almond and by him delivered to the said Edward Britt to hold to him his heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning of the within writen indenture Witness Thos. Williamson Edward Almond Abrm. Maer Benja. Britt At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 12 day of May 1763. This indenture and the memorandum of livery of seisin was proved by the oath of Thos. Williamson and Abraham Maer witnesses thereto. And At a Court held for the sd. County the 9 day of June 1763.
