All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds William GLOVER & wife Patience of Nansemond Co. to John LAWRENCE, deed of bargain & sale, 100a., 13 Jul 1770, acknowledged 12 Jul 1770 [margin notes] Glover to Lawrence d.d to Major Lawrence March 17 1779 This Indenture made this thirteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred & sevety Between W.m Glover & Patience his wife of the County Nancemond of the one part & John Lawrance of County of Isle of Wight of the other Part Witnesseth that the s.d William & Patience Glover for and in Consideration of the sum of sixty five Pounds Current Money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said John Lawrence the receipt whereof the s.d William & Patience Glover doth hereby Acknowledge & thereof acquit & discharge the s.d John Lawrance his heirs Executors & administrators by these presents hath bargain'd granted Sold Aliend enfeoffed & confirm & by these presents doth bargain grant sell Alien enfeoff & confirm unto the s.d John Lawrence & to his heirs & assigns forever all that tract or parcel of Land lying & being in the County of Southampton Containing by Estimation one hundred Acres be the same more or less & bounded as followeth to witt Begining at the mouth of the mirey Branch thence up the various Courses of the s.d Branch to white oak thence west through the pecawson to a white oak a Corner Tree of William Glover thence south two degrees west to Cypress swamp thence down the s.d swamp to the begining Together with all houses outhouses edifices building yards gardens orchards trees water water Courses profits Commodites hereditaments & appurtenances to the s.d plantation tract or parcel of Land beloning or in any ways Appurtaining to reversion & [page break] [p.] 287 & reversions remainder & remainders rents Issues & proffits thereof & every & every part & parcel thereof & all the estate right & Title Intrest property possession Claim & demand whatsoever of them the William & Patience Glover of in or to the same or any part or parcel thereof & all the Deeds evidences & witness touching or in any ways Concerning the same To have and to hold the s.d Plantation tract or parcel of Land & premises appurtenances unto the said John Lawrence his heirs & assigns to the only use & behoof him the s.d John Lawrence his heirs & Assigns forever and the said William & Patience Glover for themselves their heirs Executors & administrators doth Covenant promise & grant to & with the said John Lawrence his heirs & assigns by these presents that the said William & Patience Glover & their heirs & assigns foresaid premises with the appurtinances unto the said John Lawrance his heirs & assigns against all & every person & persons whatsoever Lawfully Claiming or to claim the same by from or under him them or any of them or any other person or persons whereof we the s.d to William & Patience Glovers hath hereunto set our hands & affixed our seals the day & year first above written _______ ___ Signed Sealed & delivered } William Glover *LS* in presents of } Patience Glover *LS* John Ely Ju.r } At a court held for the County of Southampton the 12 day Thomas Lankford Ju.r } of July 1770 This Indenture was acknowledged by the Joseph Mountfortt } within named William Glover & Patience his wife she being first prively exam.d as the Law directs & ordered to be recorded R.
