All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds William GLOVER & wife Patience Nansemond Co. to Thomas LANKFORD, Jr. of Isle of Wight Co., deed of bargain & sale, 2 tracts, 12 Jul 1770 [margin notes] Glover to Lankford del.d to Elisha Lankford This Indenture made this 12 day of July in the year of our Lord Christ 1770 Between W.m Glover & Patience his wife of the County of Nansemond of the one part; & Thomas Lankford Ju.r of the parish of Newport & County of Isle of wight of the other part Witnesseth That the said William Glover & Patience Glover his wife for & in Consideration of the sum of Eighty pounds Current Money of Virginia to them in hand [page break] [p.] 288 paid the Receipt whereof we do hereby Acknowledge ourselves fully & Intirely Satisfied & paid & we have Bargain'd Sold Aliened Enfeoffed & confirm & by these presents doth Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoff & forever confirm unto the said Thomas Lankford Jun.r to his heirs & assigns forever Two small that Tracts or parcels of Land Lying & being in Nottoway parish & county of Southampton The high land is Bounded as followeth Begining at a white Oak a corner Tree in John Lawrances line thence S 2 D. West to the Cypress Swamp then up the swamp to Thomas Mounfords line then along the s.d Munfords line to the Out line the to the first Station the other peace is an Island Not Exceeding a Miles Distance Joyning on Black water River Begining Where the mirey Branch makes into the Island then down the said Branch to the Cypress Swamp then down the said swamp on Joshua Joyners line Black water Then up Black water to G Thomas White's line then along the s.d Whites line on the high land Joinging the Island to the Mirey Branch the first Station &c To Gether with all woods under woods ways water & water Courses Reversion & reversions remainder & remainders Rents Issues thereof To have & to hold the s.d Premises with all & Singular the Appurtenances thereunto Belonging & the said W.m Glover & patience his wife do sell the said land for one hundred & eighty Acres be the same more or Less & do warrant the s.d Land & premises unto the said Tho.s Lankford Ju.r to him his heirs Executors Administrators & Assigns forever & the said W.m Glover & Patience his wife do Acquit themselves their heirs Executors Administrators or assigns & will warrant & forever Defend y.e Said lands & premises from Any person or persons whatsoever from Laying any manner of Claim by from or under them In witness whereof the s.d to W.m Glover & patience Glover his wife hath hereunto set their hands & seals the Day & date Above Signed Sealed & delivered W.m Glover *LS* in presents of Patience Glover *LS* written John Eley Ju.r} John Lawrance } July the 12.th day 1770 { The Received of Thomas John Everett } Lankford Ju.r the full Contents of the within written [page break] [p.] 289 Deed I say Received by me in full of all Demands William Glover ___ Test John Eley Junnior} At a court held for the County of Southampton the 12.th day John Lawrence } of July 1770.
