All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds Joseph MOUNTFORT & wife Sarah to Wade MOUNTFORT, deed of bargain & sale, 200a., 12 Jun 1772, acknowledged 11 Jun 1772 [margin note] Mountfort to Mountfort This Indenture made this 12 day of June in the year of our Lord 1772 between Joseph Mounfort & Sarah his wife of the parish of Nottoway & County of So.hampton of the one part and Wade Mounfort of the said parish and County of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the Just and ful sum of One hundred & Seventy five pounds Current money of Virginia by the said Waid Mounfort to them in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they the sd. Joseph Mountford & Sarah his wife Doth hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and discharge the sd. Waid Mounford his executors administrators and assigns forever Hath granted bargained sold Aliened released & Confirmed & by these presents Doth grant bargain sell alien release and Confirm unto the sd. Wade Mountford his heirs and assigns forever all that measuage tract & parcel of land whereon he now live Situate lying & being in the aforesd. County of Southampton & parish of Nottoway Containing by estimation two hundred acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows To wit beginning in the Cypress Swamp at the mouth of the meadow branch thence down the run of the said swamp to the mouth of Jacks branchs up sd. branch and Joshua Joyners line to a oak a corner tree of sd. Joyners & Sion Williams line thence sd. Williams line to Jessee Councills line thence said Councills line to Joseph [page break] [p.] 448 Mountfort line thence a line of marked trees through the said Joseph Mountfort line to a red oak a corner tree standing Near the main road thence a line of marked trees to a red oak another Corner tree thence a line of marked trees to the aforesd. meadow branch and down the branch to the beginning And all houses Outhouses Edifices buildings woods ways waters & water courses profits Commodities hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Reversion & Reversions remainder & rents Issues & profits thereof and all the estate right title Interest claim or demand of them the said Joseph Mountford and Sarah his wife of in and to the same and every part thereof To have and to hold the said measuage tract and parcel of 200 Acres of Land aforesaid unto him the said Wade Mountfort his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the sd. Wade Mountfort his heirs executors admrs. and assigns forever and the said Joseph Mountfort and Sarah his wife and their heirs and assigns the sd. 200 Acres of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the [sd] Wade Mountfort his heirs and assigns forever against them the sd. Joseph Mounfort & Sarah his wife against them their heirs Executors admrs. and assigns and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever Claiming or demanding the Same or any part thereof shall and will warrent and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the sd.
