Joyner ______ This Indenture made the twenty eighth day of November and the sixteenth year of the reign of George the third in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy five Between Jesse Council and Lydia Council his wife of Southampton County in Virginia and Bridgman Joyner of the aforesaid province, Witnesseth that the said Jesse Council and Lydia his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Forty one pounds ten shillings current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Bridgman Joyner at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Jesse Council and Lydia his wife doth hereby acknowledge they the said Jesse and Lydia his wife hath granted bargaind and sold aliened enfeoffed and confirm'd and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell alien and enfeoff and confirm unto the said Bridgman Joyner his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres more or less situate lying and being in southampton County being part of a patent the said Council purchased of David Bunn, of the aforesaid County and Province in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and sixty begining at a gum saplin standing in the meadow branch at the main road that leads to Col. Browns ferry so down the various courses of the run of the said Branch to the head of the meadow pocoson so down south side of the meadow pocosion to the North prong of Rogers Branch to a pine, a corner tree so down the said Branch to a gum a corner tree thence along the new patent line granted to the said David Bunn by Lewis Burwell Esq.r president and Commander in chief of the [page break] [p.] 200 aforesaid Province bearing date the 20 day of September one thousand seven hundred and fifty one Then to the south prong of Rogers Branch to a gum another corner tree thence along the aforesaid Patent line to a pine a corner from thence the said patent line to the aforesaid road and from thence down the road said to the first station, and also all trees woods underwoods commons and common of pasturage profits commodities advantages emoluments hereditaments what soever to the said land above mentioned belonging or in any wise appurtaining or in or upon the same growing happening or arising and also the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents and services of the said premises and every part thereof and also right title interest claim and demand whatsoever of them the said Jesse Council and Lydia of in or to the same premises and every part thereof, To have and to hold all and singular the said premises above mention'd and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said Bridgman Joyner his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jesse Council and Lydia for themselves their heirs or assigns forever and the said Jesse Councill and Lydia for themselves their heirs or assigns the said tract or parcel of land with the appertenances above mention'd and every part thereof against them and their heirs Executors administrators and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Jesse Council & Lydia his wife hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day reign & year above written Signed Sealed and Jesse Councill ¤::¤ delivered in presence of her Joseph Mountfortt Lydia X Councill ¤::¤ Thomas Lankford jun.r Mark Thomas Mountfortt Barnabas Drake jun.r his John X Joyner of Joshua Mark Thomas Coffield November 28.th 1775 Received the sum of Forty one pounds ten shillings Current money of Virginia for the consideration within mention'd as witnesses my hand the date above Jesse Council Witness Joseph Mountfortt Barnabas Drake jun.r Thomas Lankford jun.r his Thomas Mountfort John Joyner Mark Thomas Coffield At a court held for the county of Southampton the 8.th day of February 1776 This Indenture and the receipt thereon endos'd were proved by the oaths of Thos.
