All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds Hardy BUNN & wife Dorcas to Jacob TURNER, indenture dated 8 May 1781, acknowledged & admitted 12 Jul 1781 [margin notes] Bunn to Turner This Indenture made this Eight day of May in the year of our lord christ one thousand Seven hundred eighty one Between Hardy Bunn and Dorcas his wife of the County of Southampton & parish of Nottoway of the one part and Jacob Turner of the county & parish aforesaid of the othe part wit- =nesseth that for and in Consideration of the Just and full Sum of three hundred pounds Current money of Virginia by the said Jacob Turner to them the said Hardy Bunn and Dorcas his wife in hand paid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge & hereof acquit & discharge the said Jacob Turner his heirs and Assigns forever and themselves there with fully and intirely Satisfide Contented and paid they the said Hardy Bunn & Dorcas his wife have granted bargaind sold alien'd released, Setover deliver and Confirme and by these presents doth grant bargain sell setover alien & releas deliver and Confirm unto the said Jacob Turner & to his heirs forever all that tract or parcel of land bounded as follows begining at a pine tree a corner on a branch parting Hardy Bunn and Henry Oberry down the said line to a gum tree a corner tree parting Hardy Bunn & Jonas Joyner on a Branch down the said Branch to the fork up the said Branch to the begining at a pine being Containing by estimation forty acres be the same more or less and bounded as by the said Indenture as is expressed and all houses out houses woods ways waters & water courses [page break] [p.] (505) profits commodities hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appurtainin and the reversion & reversions remain- =der and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and all the estate right interest claim or demand of them the said Hardy Bunn & Dorcas his wife of in and to the same and every part thereof To have & to hold the said tract and parcel of land Estimated to be forty acres Bounded as aforesaid be the same more or less unto him the said Jacob Turne and his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and. behoof of him the said Jacob Turner & his heirs and assigns forever and the said Hardy Bunn and Dorcas his wife for themselves & their heirs and Assigns forever against them the said Hardy Bunn & Dorcas his wife and their heirs and Assigns and against all other persons or person whatsoever Claiming or demanding the Same or any part thereof shall and will warrant and forever defend by theses presents In Witness whereof the said Hardy Bunn and Dorcas his wife have hereunto set their hands & Seals the day and year first above Written his Signed Sealed & delivered} Hardy H Bunn ¤Seal¤ In the presents of us } mark Joseph Mountfort} her his } Dorcas D Bunn ¤Seal¤ Jonas X Joyner } mark mark } Received this eighth day of May of the Thomas Mountfort} within named Jacob Turner the sum of three hundred pounds Curren money of Virginia being the Consideration money within mentioned: Witness his Joseph Mountfortt Hardy H Bunn ¤ ¤ his mark Jonas X Joyner her mark Dorcas D Bunn Thomas Mountfourt mark At a court held for the County of Southampton the 12.th day of July 1781 This Indenture & the receipt thereon endorsed were acknowledged by the the within Named Hardy Bunn & Dorcas his wife she being first privily examined as the law directs and ordered to be Recorded Sam Kello Cl- ~^~ ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Southampton Co., VA, Deed Book 5 (1773-1781), pp. 504-05 The Library of Virginia, Southampton Co.
