All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds Elizabeth DENSON & Anne DENSON, deed of emancipation (of three slaves), 1 Dec 1782 (12 Dec 1782) [margin notes] Eliz.a Densons Eman.s We Elizabeth Denson & Anne Denson of Southampton County Virginia having under our care a Negro woman named .Abb aged about Twenty five Years Whoom we have heretofore held as aSlave, but being fully pur =suaded that freedom is the natural right of all mankind And That it is our Duty to do unto others as we would desire to be done by, do therefore I hereby Emancipate and set the said Negro free, and we do for our selves, our heirs Executors &: Administrators, hereby Relinquish all our right Title interest and Claim orpretention of Claim whatsoever either to her Person or to any Estate she may hereafter Acquire, and Having also Two Negroes now in their Minority (to wit) a Girl named Esther aged About four years, and a boy named Daniel of about two Years Old, Both of which we also eman =cipate and set free saveing to our selves & each of us our Heirs and Assigns the Care and Direction of the said Esther [page break] [p.] (100) Esther untill she attains To The age of Eighteen years. & of the said Daniel untill he arrives to the Age of Twenty oneyears, And we do for our selves our Heirs Ex'ors: and Administrators. Hereby relinquish all our right Title Interest and Claim Or pretension of claim Whatsoever either to their perso =ns or to Any Estate They shall Acquire after they arrive To the fill and Lawfull Ages Aforesaid, all the above said Negroes and their Posterity To Enjoy their full ___ Freedom Without any Interruption from us us or___ Either of us our heirs or assigns Or any other person Claim =ing for by or under us.
